You should book a vet appointment as soon as you can for a routine check up and vaccinations and de worming. Your vet can help you with any vaccines you need for your area but typically the first/ basic vaccine is a combined coverage for 4-5 typical and common diseases and is pretty standard. Rabies is usually recommended and given as a separate injection (during the same appointment). You will need to take your dog for a second appointment for some follow up boosters (you vet will tell you when, usually a couple weeks to a month later). Until these vaccines have been administered and a couple weeks have passed before your dog is provided with full immunity, it is best to avoid public places where other dogs frequent or contact with other dogs to prevent infection of illness.

If a puppy has had no shots it needs an initial vaccine and then a booster in 3-4 weeks of the same shot. Then a booster is needed very year after that. I'm guessing the 9-way you are referring to is a DHLPP + Lepto vaccine. Yes, that is what is recommended. As a side note, your dog needs a rabies vaccination and that has to be given by a vet. You can give it yourself but the County/City/State will not recognize it and if your dog bites someone you will be in trouble. I suggest you have a vet do the shots for you. You can go to a VETCO shot clinic if cost is an issue for you. ( https://www.vetcoclinics.com/services-and-clinics/clinic-locations-and-schedules/?zip=44653 )

He will need to have a puppy vaccination course (2-3 injections) and a rabies vaccination, here is the detailed list of vaccination protocol: http://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/vmth/small_animal/internal_medicine/newsletters/vaccination_protocols.cfm

If you have no vaccine history at all on him, the safest bet is to assume that he has not had any shots at all. In that case, he would need at minimum a DAPP vaccine (for parvo and distemper), once now and a booster in 3 weeks. He will also need a rabies vaccine. Other vaccines such as Bordetella or Lyme disease may be recommended depending on his lifestyle.
