Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear about Buddy. This is a million dollar question. I have experienced it with my dogs and I didn't understand it then and I don't understand it now. Some dogs are just very destructive when it comes to toys, beds, and other items in the house. Maybe it's just boredom, lack of environmental enrichment, etc. I would advise more walks, more exercise, etc to see if the behavior continues. Good luck

Dachshunds tend to be snugglers, and also love to be buried (like under a blanket!). I'd look into a dog bed (or even a large cat bed) that has a [clamshell or hooded design](https://www.petco.com/shop/en/petcostore/product/harmony-hooded-cave-cat-bed-in-grey) that she can crawl into and be covered up by it. Also, a dog bed and toys will be important as well. I recommend that you check with your veterinarian to get him in for initiation of vaccines and to start other preventative care medications such as flea and tick preventatives and heartworm preventatives. I suggest blocking off your bed so that Oli doesn't have access to it for a few weeks. At the same time have a nice, comfy bed for Oli in the same room. You may also want to offer Oli a Kong stuffed with peanut butter or spray cheese so that can distract him in his bed. There are many things to consider for keeping an outdoor dog comfortable. Any type of shelter will do as long as it provides enough room (for the dog to stand up and turn around), protects the dog from the weather (good roof and sound walls) and the door is situated such that the prevailing winds do not blow right in. Straw bedding is helpful during the cold weather to help the dog maintain some heat in the house. Fleas are better controlled with medications such as Frontline, Seresto collar, NexGard, and many others. If your dog is a short-haired dog, pay close attention during the cold months to make sure he is able to keep warm. There are also coats for dogs that can help! Thank you for using pet coach.

Put a toy on it and sit there with Chloe on the bed and pet and praise her. You can also throw a treat onto the bed asking her to go to bed and praise her when she gets on the bed. Once she knows you want her to lay in it she'll learn that it's her special place and love it. Some dogs will roll on their backs and rub on the bed to get their scent on it too. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Beds are fine in crates as long as they are not chewed up and/or pieces aren’t swallowed that would cause an obstruction. If Jasper chews the bed then he shouldn’t have a bed in his crate. I hope this helps!

Try looking up "train your dog to place" on google - instead of "place" you can say "bed." There are lots of good resources. You will need to work on training several times per day for a few minutes each time. Clicker training may also help him get it a little quicker. Stay consistent. It may take several weeks of working on this skill for him to do it without a treat. Even then he may still decide your bed is more comfortable. Alternatively, you can crate train him and put his bed in there for nighttime.
