My dog is vomiting orange bile and his hernia is hard. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 19.84 lbs

Bandit has been fine all day except this afternoon he vomitted bile he has done this before if he has eaten something he wasnt meant too, however he has vomitted atleast 5 times since then and the colour is changing from a clearish to orange, ive also noticed that his hernia which is normally soft has now become hard. But note he does have both his testes and the hernia is meant to be taken out once he gets spayed

Vomiting that many times in a short period of time is a bit concerning. The orange-y color is bile and that is normal gastric fluid if they are vomiting with the stomach empty. I do think you should get him to a vet at the first possibility. If you have a human antacid medication you can typically use them in dogs. I can't tell you any dosing without knowing what you have. If you want to post again and let us know what medications you have available we can help you more.
