When can I safely do a full cage clean for my hamster after babies?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 30 days old

Hi! My hamster had ten babies about two weeks ago. I was just wondering when it was safe to clean her cage? And is it safe to take all the bedding out and clean it like normal or not?

Yes, it is safe to clean the cage now. I suggest you only do a partial clean. You can clean it fully once you have weaned the babies away from their mom which should be done between 3 and 4 weeks of age.
