My dog has thick, yellow-green eye discharge. Is it an infection?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 15 years and 11 months old | 8 lbs

Zoey has a clear liquid draining from her eye. It is almost like a tear but slightly thicker. It has been happening for three days now and has spread to the other eye. It is sometimes even thicker and yellow/green. It doesn’t seem to bother her at all. No other symptoms. I’m wondering if it is just allergies or something more serious like an infection. She is older and has had UTIs (twice in the past year and a half).

It sounds like to me it could be an infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take Zoey into a vet today. Best of luck.

Zoey woke up this morning soft guick in her eye it was brown and she has a lot of it in her left eye now there yellow soft guick in it what should we do for it can we put contact sullsion in it or do you recommend something else
Poor Zoey! No, please don't put contact solution in her eye - this will not help to treat the problem, and may burn and cause additional discomfort. Brown or yellow discharge like this is usually a sign of an eye infection, or a corneal injury of some kind such as a scratch or ulcer. I would recommend taking Zoey to the vet today for an exam - he/she can use a special stain to check for any injuries to the eye, and will likely prescribe antibiotic eye drops or ointment to treat the problem.

It could be that Belle has an eye infection. Any eye problem needs to be checked out promptly by a vet, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Yes, I would see if you can get her into another vet sooner.

Yes, it is definitely worth a trip to the vet. Even if she did not previously have an infection, Shiloh may be dealing with one now. Infections of the uterus (called pyometra) can sometimes present this way, and they can be deadly if not treated. She may also have a vaginitis or urinary tract infection that needs treatment. Yes, it could be that Fadden has an eye infection. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it is considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take Fadden into a vet now, who can diagnose that he does have an eye infection and can treat him for it.

My dog has yellow green mucus coming out of her eyes. They don't seem to be bothering her. But I have to constantly wipe the mucus away. It just started this morning
That is pretty significant discharge that Nola has around her eyes. This is likely secondary to an infection (eye or upper respiratory) or even an allergy. It would be best to have Nola examined by a veterinarian because she may need medicated eye drops or even an oral antibiotic to treat the eyes. It's always better to have a dog seen if there are eye issues going on as it can progress to more serious issues quickly. You may use a sterile saline solution to rinse Nola's eyes but I don't think that will resolve the issue. So again, it's really the best idea to have Nola evaluated by your veterinarian. It's very likely to be an eye infection, a yellowish discharge is a typical sign of this condition and often it is the only symptom. i would recommend taking Apollo to the vet as soon as possible in order to get it checked and treated, prescription antibiotic drops will be needed.
