Why is my calm cat suddenly aggressive to loud noises and attacking?

My cat gets nervous and aggressive when hearing loud voices,he is a very calm cat and never does something like this. This is a new behaviour as he used to run away and hide on hearing loud voices,but yesterday he attacked my friend who has laughed out loud,he kept chasing her and wanted to bite her but she locked herself in a room. After this he returned to normal and was calm. What does this new behaviour mean? And is this behaviour a dangerous indication? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

A sudden change in behavior may have, at its root, injury or infection.
