Why is my neutered male cat still acting sexual and biting others?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 3 months old | 12 lbs

Hi! My male cat is 3 and neutered. He was abandoned as a kitten and now sucks on blankets and kneads. While this is normal, he also seems to get erected by it. Why? If he's neutered. Is there anyway to stop the sexual behavior? I don't know if this is related but he also seems to try to bite the female cat (also got her fixed of course) sometimes on the back and neck.. what can I do? Very disturbed by this. Thank you

This is totally normal. Some cats can suck on blankets if they were taken from their mother too soon, and it sounds like he is masturbating as well. When he starts doing this behavior, tell him no, put him down, and ignore him. Do the same thing when he does it to your female. I hope this helps!

Kittyanu is masturbating. It's a normal behavior, and he's learned that it feels good. If he kneads on you and starts this behavior, immediately put him down and ignore him to teach him you do not like that behavior and you will ignore him if he does it.

It does usually take a few months for all the hormones to dissipate post neutering, however if the cat was neutered at a much older age, he may still have some of the behaviors/interest even without the ability. Keeping the cats separated if this behavior occurs, or even adding in a pheromone diffuser (such as Feliway) may help with inter-cat interactions.

This is typical dominance behavior and can be strongly influenced by sexual hormones. The first and most important thing to do is to have the second cat neutered. You may start to see his behaviors improvibg after 1-2 months. If he continues, try to intervene every time you see this behavior by squirting him with a spray water bottle, etc.

Barf is masturbating on your hand. Masturbating is a normal behavior, but you certainly don't want it on your hand! Each time he tries to do it, remove him from your side. Put him down on the floor, or lock him out of the room. He will soon learn that when he does this to your hand, he gets ignored and banished.

This is pretty normal cat behavior. They ask for attention and then get overstimulated. With an intact male cat it could also be hormonally related. I suggest you have him neutered and likely the behavior will stop.

This may actually be normal affectionate behavior for a cat (kneading/‘making muffins’ and wanting to be stroked along the length of his back and tail) If he is not neutered and is between 6 months-a year old and only recently started acting like this, hitting puberty may partially explain the change in behavior. Non -prescription over the counter pheromones such as Feliway plug ins or sprays or a Feliway collar or daily VetriScience liquid Composure supplements may help calm him down/reduce his biting tendency, as may having him neutered by your veterinarian. Male cats will tend to do this behavior if they have not been neutered. If your cat has been neutered I would check with the vet who performed the surgery to ensure that both testicles were retrieved at the time of the surgery and that your cat does not have a retained testicle or is what we call a cryptorchid. Some cats fail to descend a testicle and it remains in the abdominal cavity. One of the signs that this has happened is latent "sexual activity such as "masturbation activity" such as your cat is doing. Not all cats who do this have retained testicles, but it can often be the case. If you and your vet know for 100% certainty that he had both testicles removed, then this may just be a behavior that your cat does. Your vet may have some suggestions to dissuade your cat from doing this, but it is generally nothing harmful and the cat is just acting out, will finish and there is nothing else to it. If the cat did retain a testicle, the vet can go in surgically to remove it. It is im

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Unfotunately, male cats are sexually mature as young as 6 months of age and typically act accordingly starting about then. I do not expect his “tomcat” behavior to stop until he is neutered or is geriatric (12+yrs). The behaviors could be especially bad any time there is an in-tact female anywhere nearby. Of course you can’t control that. Temporary distraction with toys, training, laser pointer, etc. may or may not work. Long story short, do yourself a favor and get him neutered sooner rather than later. Best wishes to you and Fuego!

Once all the male hormones have left the younger one's body, this should stop. It sometimes takes a few weeks (3+) for all the male hormones to go. Now that the younger one has no more testicles, there will not be any significant testosterone production anymore. Your older fellow is a sweetie and obviously not too worried and might see it just as play. As long as they do not have serious fights, I would not worry about it.

We got a 6 wk old male kitten (pretty sure it's male) benji won't stop following him, licking his butt, sniffing whereever kitten has sat ect. Is this all normal? He also bites his neck and things like that too.
I see that Benji isn't neutered. He could be exhibiting dominance behavior by biting the neck of the new kitten. It is normal that he is following him around, licking his behind, and sniffing where the kitten has sat. Given that you will have two males in the home, I would have Benji neutered as soon as possible. When two male cats live in the same home and are intact, that can lead to aggression and marking with urine around the house due to hormones. Having them both neutered before this behaviors starts will prevent this behavior from occurring.
