My dog is breathing heavily at rest. Is an emergency vet needed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Boris is breathing heavily even when he has not been excersizing for three days. Is this something we should get looked at now at an emergency vet or should we wait untill Monday when we can go to his usual vet?

Hello. Any new breathing problems should be looked at immediately. Even if Boris has had this problem for a while, if it has suddenly gotten worse, he should be looked at quickly, even if it means a trip to the emergency clinic. I hope he is doing better soon & thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach
