Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My cat has a reddish lower lip. I have attached two pictures. One is from yesterday with the red lip and a normal one from previously.

It could be an allergic reaction or result of trauma (for example if Otto bumped into something). Allergic reactions could be tn anything Otto is in frequent contact with. Allergic swelling on the chin could be caused by an allergy to food bowls, floors, chemicals that you use to clean floors and carpets. If the chin is not swollen, not painful and not bothering Otto at all, I would leave it for 1-2 days. You could give him half of a tablet of human Piriton to help the swelling to go down. However, if the chin is bothering Otto or if he is trying to scratch it, you should take him to your local vet for a check-up
