My green-cheeked conure has occasional red spots near its eye. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Conure | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 21 days old | 0 lbs

My GCC has this ocasional red spots on his white eye area. No abnormal behavior, normal eating and normal poop. Maybe it’s just a scratch but with birds you never know and it’s very concerning as well.

It is probably from scratching or rubbing. As long as the spots resolve and there are no other symptoms, there is likely no cause for concern. Use concrete perches or clip his nails regularly to keep them in trim. (My African Grey gets the same thing occasionally).
