Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 1 year old | 12 lbs

My cat has had a swollen lip now for 3-4 days. My husband thinks it’s nothing to worry about but she just turned 1 and I’m very paranoid about it. Any help would great thank you. First pic of her 2-3 days in and the second is her normally. I know it’s hard since she’s all black sorry!

The swelling could be caused by blunt trauma (for example if she run into something) or allergic reaction. If it is not bothering Kitty at all, is not itchy or painful when you touch it, I would leave it for another 2-3 days. Most of the mild swelling regardless on the cause should disappear within 5-7 days. If the swelling becomes itchy, painful or gets bigger, please take Kitty to your local vets for a check up.
