My dog has a bright pink bump near his anus. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd - miniature | Male | unneutered

I was giving my dog a bath and discovered he has a large bump underneath his anus that’s bright pink and I’m not sure what it is or if I need to take him to the vet, its only on his right side but it’s not a ball just a huge bump.

This could be very serious. I suggest you have Blue to the vet for an exam. This can be an anal gland abscess (which I hope it is) but it can also be a tumor (cancer) or a prostate problem. He really needs to see a vet as soon as you can get an appointment.
