Why are my adult dog's teeth yellow? Is it normal or a health risk?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 5 months old

My dog is 4yrs 5 months and I started brushing his teethlike alternate days but they are not going white like it used to be when he was 2 years old I have given him even dentalstix as well but teeth not going white. I am worried because I heard yellow teeth could lead to kidney diseases and other disease in dogs so what should I do to make his teeth appear shining white ? I am attaching his photos of teeth For your reference

The teeth and gums look very healthy on the pictures you posted. Teeth are very white in puppies and very young dogs, but the colour turns slightly yellow in adult dogs. I think that could be the reason in Bruno's case. His teeth definitely don't give him any problems and he will not have kidneys or heart disease because of that. Please, keep brushing the teeth as you do. The next time you see your vet, you can always ask them to quickly check Bruno's teeth.
