My cat's voice is gone and he's licking his lips. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 10 months old

My cat isn't extremely vocal. However he wakes me up every morning for a treat and usually leads the way to the kitchen by talking. He did the same today but his voice seems gone. He's licking he's lips alot. Almost as if it's dry. I can't take him to the bety because of Corona virus. What can I do?

I don't think you need to do anything at this stage. He may just have a touch of laryngitis and as long as he is eating and drinking and acting otherwise normally I would not be too concerned. Just keep monitoring him for now.
