My old cat is clingy and acting strange. What should I do about it?

My old cat is becoming very clingy lately and I was told on here because of that and her age to take her to see a vet. I’m a teen and my mom said since she is eating and drinking it’s fine but I havnt seen her food bowl level move much and she is acting weird by doing things like laying in places she never lays.
