Hello! Our vet is closed for routine checkups and we noticed our pup licking himself a lot today so we checked where he is licking and he has these dots near his penis. One of them looks like an oozy pimple and the other two are raised with black dots in them. The skin around the oozy one is red. Do you know what it is? Is it a cause for concern?

This looks like a superficial der.atitis which is not uncommon in pups. Bathing with a chlorhexidine scrub can help and if you send the pictures to your vet for medicated shampoo and/or ointment. Antibiotics are rarely required unless it becomes deeper, wet or he develops a fever

I am sorry but the pictures are very hard to see. I think making them up close has caused them to be pixilated. I would recommend using a unscented baby wipe around his penis every time he urinates. Sometimes in puppies the urine will scald the tissue around the penis. If the skin is not improving or getting worse I would recommend taking him to the vet incase it is infected.
