Why is my dog licking his private area and has a smelly wound?

My dog licks his hips alot... sometimes even discharges a smelly fluid..he also has a wound like something or ulcer on scrotal skin and licks that area alot. Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 3 years and 4 months old

That area looks pretty inflamed. If there is also discharge coming from the wound, I would worry it is infected. It will need to be seen by your vet so they can clip the area and clean it, and provide any medications such as antibiotics to treat the infection. Until you can get to your vet, keeping the area clean and dry and preventing Alvin from licking with the use of an Elizabethan (cone) collar is best.
