When is it safe for my new puppy to go for walks after vaccinations?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 7 days old | 28 lbs

Hello! I have a sweet 14-week old golden retriever puppy. My question is when it’s safe to take him out for a walk. He got his first vaccination at 6 weeks, second at 9 weeks, and third one at 13 weeks. He will still be getting one more at 16 weeks since our vet thought the one at 6 weeks might’ve not been effective due to mom’s milk/immunity. It’s been a week since his 3rd vaccination technically - is it safe to take him for a walk yet?

Hello. Just to be sure, please try to wait until Vino gets that last booster at 16 weeks of age. I agree 100% with your vet that the 6 week shot was very likely ineffective, so he does need the last vaccine to make sure he can fight off any disease he might come across. Better safe than sorry.
