Why is my 8-year-old cat losing hair on the back of his ears?

My cat Moody is loosing hair on the back of his ears, he's 8 years old, he doesn't have any bugs in his ears and not scratching his ears. Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Male | neutered | 8 years and 2 months old | 19 lbs
