Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 8 months old
Hi I moved to an apartment on October of last year and my cat has been coughing non stop for 2 months since February. I went to the vet and they haven’t yet found the reason why she’s coughing . They gave her antibiotics and still she hasn’t yet recover. Do you think she’s coughing from eating plants ? Dust from the apartment ? She coughs everyday. Morning to night.

I suspect she may be allergic to something in your new apartment. It could be allergy to plants or pollen but some allergies in cats are triggered by floor cleaners, dust, new carpets etc. Also, coughing in cats is often a sign of asthma, so maybe Mia has mild asthma ? Sometimes this kind of allergies or mild asthmatic attacks are very difficult to diagnose. The common way to go to in such cases is prescribing anti-allergic / anti-asthmatic treatment for 1-2 weeks. I would suggest you to discuss that with your vets.

Coughing in cats is never normal. I would be worried because the coughing is so frequent. You must take her back to the vet for some x-rays of her chest if that has not already been done. I was originally thinking asthma as the primary cause due to her age but since it is so constant I think she could have some foreign material stuck in her throat area. I suggest you video her coughing behavior so you can show the vet and get her back for more testing. https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/coughing-in-cats
