My kitten's stomach is bloated after deworming. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Scottish Fold | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 5 days old | 2 lbs

Hello! My kitten named Simon, (a 9-week old Munchkin-Scottish Fold mix) seemingly has a bloated stomach. He has been eating fine, going to the bathroom, not having diarrhea, not eating too little, as far as we can tell not eating too much, playful, sleeping well...We might just be looking for any symptom in our precious kitten, but should we be on the watch for anything? He did have a deworming before we got him. Thanks!

It could be due to the deworming treatment killing the worms in Simon's stomach. Intestinal worms are common in puppies. As long as he's otherwise acting normally, I'd keep an eye on him for now. If he has diarrhea, blood in his poop, vomits, is lethargic, or has a loss of appetite, have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.
