What to do when taking a new dog to the vet with no records?

o i was watching my neighbors dog for 2 weeks for them while they went out of town and they asked did i want to keep the dog so i agreed yes not knowing they meant officially have him......found out they moved and couldnt take dog with them now im stuck with him and ive been caring for hime and i think i want to keet him and i want to take him to the vet but all i have on him is a name no papers

What a cutie dog! That's ok if you don;t have any info. Just start all over again with vaccines, heartworm testing and heartworm prevention. You will not hurt him. Tell the vet his history to help make the best decision. Obviously you may try to find the people and ask them about his health history but if you can't reach them, it will be ok. I hope this helps.
