My stray cat is wheezing and can't jump. Is it sick, or just old?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

i found a stray cat and it wheezes when it breathes and appears to have a sore paw as it can’t jump, but i’m unsure if maybe it’s just old.

Poor kitty! It sounds like it needs to see a veterinarian for an exam. Wheezing or noisy breathing could be caused by a respiratory infection or some other problem, and the sore paw could be a result of some type of injury or infection. I would recommend taking the cat to a vet today to be seen. Or, if you don't want to take financial resoponsibility for having it treated since it is a stray, you can surrender it to your local animal shelter or humane officer so that they can make sure it gets the care it needs.
