Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year old
My cat has a hard lump on his hip that I only just noticed today. It hurts him when I hardly push on it. Do I need to be worried?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Creamy. Any new bump, especially if it is painful, should be evaluated by a veterinarian. He will be examined and typically a procedure known as a fine needle aspirate is performed. The doctor will use a small needle to collect a sample of cells to evaluate under the microscope. This helps to diagnose the bump and guide treatment. I hope this information helps!

Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. These lumps on Tien Tien could be caused by lipomas (benign fatty tumors), cysts, benign tumors, or malignant tumors. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would take him into the vet tomorrow for an exam.

This may be a growth, and it could be benign or malignant. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. give Patches's vet a call to make him an appointment.
