Safest way to switch cat food for skin health: mix or complete change?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 11 years old | 16 lbs

Thanks! I am definitely scared now about hydrogen peroxide, I shouldn’t have used it, I mean he seems fine, but if it causes harm I will throw it away for good... and I will buy omega...as for the diet and skin health can I just start adding royal canin to his hills science diet, or switch completely to RC, which way is the safest? Thanks!

You haven't caused any serious harm! The peroxide will cause irritation to the new cells and delay the healing. That's why you shouldn't use it more than once or twice. You should transition the food to make sure you don't cause his belly to become upset: https://www.petcoach.co/article/how-to-change-your-cats-food/ I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
