My puppy ate an old, rotten banana peel. Should I be concerned?

My 6 month old golden just ate a very old, very rotten banana peel. Should I be concerned? Thank you!

At worst, you may see some mild stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhea). This can typically be managed at home with a short fast followed by a bland diet fed in small, frequent amounts until symptoms resolve.

She may have some diarrhoea or vomiting due to the fact that the banana could have been partially rotten. Other than that she should be fine. I would recommend to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. My elderly Shih Tzu found a discarded banana and ate half of it, along with about 1/4 of the peel. She only has a few teeth. Will she be ok?

Hey I fed my dog 2 bananas and I just got to know that only half a banana per day should be fed to a dog . Is my dog fine ?
I am sorry to hear about your concern for Baburoa. Bananas are not toxic so he just may experience some gastrointestinal upset such as diarrhea or constipation, and in rare cases vomiting. Many dogs will not experience any of these symptoms and will show no change, it just depends on how sensitive your dog's stomach is.

Ok so I left my house for 10 minutes and for some reason I left a half eaten banana on the table. My dogs at the whole banana including the skin peel she didn’t eat the hard top. Maybe some hard part but mostly all there. Should I be worried?
Bananas are ok for dogs to eat, not sure the banana peel will be easy to digest though. Keep an eye on Jax to make sure he doesn't stop eating or develop a stomach ache. Jax should be fine if he chewed up the banana peel, if not he could develop an intestinal obstruction. As long as he's eating, drinking and pooping normally there is nothing to be worried about. If he should start vomiting, not eating or straining to poop then please take him in right away for an exam and X-ray. Nova ate little bit of mango and banana (one piece of mango and one of banana. How serious it is? She is acting fine
Hi there! Nova should be fine! Bananas are a human food that is fine for her to eat if you want to offer it to her as treat sometime. A little bit of mango is ok, but it's not a food I would recommend offer to her. She may have a little bit of an upset tummy, due to ingesting a new food so don't be surprised if she has a bit of soft stool or diarrhea in the next couple of days. I hope this helps a bit!

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. Bananas are not toxic to dogs, but a dog eating anything out of the ordinary has the potential to cause GI upset. Dogs and their intestines are used to consistency, so if a new type of food is introduced, there is always a risk of GI upset, likely only mild in nature. Watermelon is also non-toxic, but should NEVER be given to a dog with the rind attached. Eating the rind puts your dog at risk of a gastrointestinal obstruction, or a blockage of their intestines, which is a surgical emergency. I hope this is helpful!

My dog ate a whole loaf of banana bread last night. Today he is drooling a lot. I gave him a little pumpkin. Is anything else I should do or watch for?
Poor guy. He likely has a bit of an upset stomach. I am not sure what ingredients were in the banana bread, but there likely wasn't enough to cause any toxicity concerns. The drooling is a sign of nausea, poor guy. Try feeding him a bland diet today and tomorrow of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese. Then continue to monitor him for any vomiting or refusal to eat his food or diarrhea. If he doesn't seem better by tomorrow, then it is a good idea to have him seen by your vet for anti-nausea medication and supportive care, but he likely will improve by tomorrow. Echo vomited some yellow liquid, his usual food is chicken and brown rice dry food, and two days ago my friends fed him some banana and orange, but he pooped right the past two days. Please let me know if there’s anything wrong with him! Thank you.
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question! It could be the banana and orange has upset Echo's stomach. I can give you a home remedy for him to see if that helps. Withhold food for 6-8 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. New Pet
I bought my 4 month old puppy greenies not realizing I wasn’t supposed to give them to him until he was 6 months old so I never gave him any. Today he got the whole bag when I wasn’t home is he going to be ok?
I would be concerned that eating an entire bag of greenies could cause some digestive upset. I would watch out for issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, bloating, extreme pain, etc that could indicate severe GI upset and warrants a trip to your vet or ER clinic. Otherwise, picking up Roscoe's food for several hours and then feeding a bland meal of boiled chicken and rice may help with any minor tummy upset.
