My dog's ear is bent after a healed hematoma. Is it okay like this?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 9 years and 5 months old | 45 lbs

I adopted Mama's and when she came to me her previous owner advised me she had a hematoma in her ear at one point that healed but left some scar tissue causing the ear to bend in. I read the posted articles here that advised hematomas could cause ear deformation but not what can be done if that does occur?? What are our options or is she okay like this?

Great question! She is just fine like this. Ear hematomas do wrinkle the ear flap. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to correct it. The best thing you can do is to make sure she doesn't get anymore hematomas by keeping her ears clean.
