Kitten has blood in poop. Is it from switching food too fast?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 17 days old | 1.7 lbs

I’ve had my kitten for about over a week now. Yesterday I noticed small red flakes in kitten poop and today there was a more blood. Will switching kitten food not gradually cause blood in kitten poop ?

Yes that could cause this. But it could also be caused by other things like intestinal worms or a stomach illness. I'd have Kiki sen by a vet in the morning to have this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

If it is liquid or very soft, she is probably suffering from diarrhea due to a gastrointestinal condition, it could be an infection, worms or a chronic intestinal disease. you can try to switch he to boiled chicken and rice for a few days and see if it helps, if it doesn't - take her to the vet in order to get treatment.
