My cat has stomach spasms. Is it an emergency or can I wait?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 7 years and 11 months old | 16 lbs

You Our cat is having what appears to be stomach spasms. I just took a video of it. I'm not sure if this is something we should take her to the emergency 24 hour vet or if we should just call our regular vet in the morning.

Unless she is continuously vomiting or vocalizing and seemingly to be in severe distress, I would say it is likely ok to wait until morning, reassess her, and take her in to your regular vet if need be. She may be having unexplained muscle spasms or some kind of nervous condition, but the vet should know more after an appropriate physical exam. I hope that your fur baby Penny is going to be ok moving forward. Best wishes and take care.
