Why did my dog have trouble peeing after a dental water additive?

Question

I added Dental Fresh to my dog's water to help with his bad breath & to help clean his teeth. This additive caused my dog to have a urinary problem whereas he couldn't pee... Have you ever heard of this problem? I had to get cranberry extract to return him to normal... Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Male | neutered | 12 years and 10 months old | 12 lbs

I suppose there could be some effect if the water additive used caused a change in urine pH which led to the formation of crystals or stones for your particular dog, however it is not common and I don't think there has been any research that suggests a link.
