Why does my dog throw up when she eats too fast or doesn't chew?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old

Hi, wanted to know 8f dogs throwup if they swallow food without chewing it? Because from a few days, Mini doesnt chew and swallows the chicken chunkc present in her wet food and most of the times throwup everything within a few mins. But, when I feed her real chicken, she chews it well n doesnt throw up. Is there something I should worry about? How can I stop this behaviour of hers about not chewing food and eating fast?

A dog may vomit if food is swallowed without being chewed adequately or if the meal is eaten quickly. You can try using a slow feed bowl to control Mini's eating. Dividing the meal into smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day may also decrease vomiting. If the vomiting persists, consider an exam with your veterinarian.
