Why does my dog get jumpy when I touch his paw but shows no pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Male | neutered | 4 months and 29 days old | 30 lbs

Is this something I should be concerned about? I was giving my dog a bath recently and when I tried to wash this particular paw he would immediately get jumpy. I tried holding his paw still and he freaked out. I left it alone and didn’t think much of it until I was brushing him a few days later and anytime I touched that paw he had the same reaction. He reluctantly let me take a few pictures. Other than when I touch his paw he does not act like it hurts and doesn’t act any differently than usual

I can't see anything abnormal with the paw based on these pictures, some dogs just hate being touched in the paws, if he is not limping you should not worry about it but i do recommend having his nails clipped in the near future.
