Why does my cat eat scented litter? Is it bad for her health?

This can be a sign of pica, and it is bad for Mochi to do. It can cause an obstruction. Pica is a symptom of an underlying disease such as FIV, hyperthyroidism, anemia, feline leukemia, dental disease, diabetes, and others. I'd have her seen by a vet for this behavior. I hope this helps!

I have a kitten, and I was wondering what to do cause she's starting to eat the cat litter.
Eating things that aren't food, called pica, can sometimes be a sign of inadequate nutrition or intestinal parasitism. I would recommend bringing your kitty to the vet along with a stool sample so they can check for intestinal parasites. I would also bring the food you are using along with you so your vet can assess if it is appropriate for your kitten and if your kitten is a good weight. A high quality kitten food such as Purina Pro Plan or Royal Canin is recommended. Also be sure your kitten has plenty of toys so she is not playing with kitty litter as a form of entertainment. Snickers is having issues were she is eating, tinsel(on a tree), a cardboard box, and litter. She gets feed regularly, I just don’t know if something is wrong, should I take her to the vet?
Hello, thank you for your question about Snickers, she is a beautiful cat! I would recommend having Snickers seen by your veterinarian. Eating of litter and other objects, also called pica, can be a sign of underlying nutrient deficiencies or health problems. Your veterinarian can examine Snickers and discus further diagnostics such as systemic bloodwork. Hope this helps!

My 9 month old cat has been eating clumping litter. Is this a sign of anemia, pica, or what? And how much iron should my cat get daily to prevent anemia?
I would make sure you are feeding Floof a well balanced diet of cat food. If he is on this already then I would recommend trying the Breeze litter box. I would also not supplement any Iron unless you have had blood work performed that says Floof is anemic. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! It should be fine if he licks it but ingesting too much could be harmful (obstruction). I’d consider having Micole examine by your Vet and some blood work done. Pica can be a sign of an underlying condition, deficiency or inflammatory bowel disease. I hope this helps!

Hello, it is not toxic, but if Garu ingests enough it could cause a gastrointestinal obstruction. So, based on what you said, I would not worry about it. He likely did not eat enough for it to be a problem. You may want to try using some Feliway products to see if they help with the pica. ( https://www.feliway.com/br ) ( https://www.feliway.com/br/FELIWAY/Feliway-Classic-Difusor ) The other thing that often helps to decrease pica symptoms is environmental enrichment. Enrichment usually means hiding toys for him, food filled toys, cat nip mice, and bits of food. Offer safe chew items (ie: dog bones), lots of scratching posts of the material and orientation that he likes. And if he likes tv, video then provide that as well. Play with him regularly if he will engage with you. Some cats symptoms will get better with a higher fiber diet. Pica is not a condition that you will "cure" but you many be able to lessen his symptoms with some of the above changes. Hope this helps. Best

My cat is a 2 month old Persian cat and she isn't litter trained. Everytime I put her in the litter box after she has eaten food or drank water, she starts eating the cat litter and tries to get out of the litter box. I've read that cats want privacy
I would recommend that you have Gucci seen by your veterinarian. Eating non-food items such as litter can indicate an underlying medical problem such as parasites or nutritional deficiencies. Your veterinarian may recommend checking a stool sample or blood work to get a better idea what's going on. After it is determined that Gucci is healthy it is likely worth trying different types of litter such as cedar shavings or corn-based litter. It is very important that Gucci does not eat litter as this can cause an intestinal blockage.

My cat never used to do this but recently after she's done using the litterbox, she'll smell her own poop and proceed to lick it. How do I get her to stop, why is she doing this and will she get sick from this?
This behavior is most likely dietary related. I suggest you try a diet change to see if that will help. My other suggestion is to feed her a probiotic for the next few weeks. I like Fortiflora but any probiotic made for cats would suffice. DO NOT give human probiotics or dairy (like yogurt). If these two things do not help then you will need to take her for a vet exam and fecal test to check for internal parasites. I don't think she would necessarily get sick from doing this but of course it can make her sick. Especially if she has type of parasite she will just keep re-infecting herself. Hope this helps. My cat eats every dirty object of my clothing he can and has destroyed several articles of clothing. His eating is regular and his thirst is high. Is Pica what he has or is this just a bad behavior?
Either is a possibility. I would recommend a visit with your veterinarian and possibly blood work to make sure he isn’t anemic, which is a cause of Pica. I would recommend clothes hampers with lids (I have to do this at my house too). The lidded hampers have been really helpful in preventing this behavior. I hope this is helpful!
