Lumps in this area tend to be tooth root abscesses though a foreign body under the skin or in the mouth or a skin tumor are possible. I recommend to have Chance examined by the veterinarian today. Tooth root abscessed require treatment. I hope this helps.

It could be a benign mass and be associated with a hypersensitivity reaction to an insect bite, but the mass is located in a region where a tooth root abscess can occur. Tooth root abscesses will typically present as a facial swelling, and may/may not be associated with difficulty eating or other signs of dental pain (not wanting to chew on toys, etc.). They will often rupture to the outside and begin to drain. I would recommend having him seen by his veterinarian to perform a thorough oral examination to help in differentiating if it is a tooth root abscess.

This looks likes a possible tooth root abscess. These are formed by infected teeth roots that will seep bacteria through the skin. Have your vet do a full oral exam to check for diseased teeth. If this is the cause then a dental cleaning plus extraction of that tooth is needed to help this resolve. In the meantime your vet can drain this area and put Jade on antibiotics +/- anti-inflammatory medication. Best wishes and take care.
