My cat's back twitches sometimes. Is this normal or hyperesthesia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 2 years old

My cat’s back twitches every once in awhile. I’ve read about feline hyperethesia but she doesn’t really exhibit many of the other symptoms. She enjoys zooming around sometimes and her pupils can dilate on occasion. But other then that she never has excessive licking or over sensitivity or anything. Should I be worried about her back twitching occasionally? Even though her behavior is normal while it’s happening?

A little bit of twitching is normal. Hyperesthesia is a pathological exaggerated response to normal stimulation. If you feel Pancetta's behavior is normal, then I would not be concerned about occasional twitching.
