My cat is limping and his arm injury is getting worse. Vet needed?

My cat had what looked like a huge abscess on his arm 3 weeks or so ago. It has since gotten worse and maybe not an abscess. could be spider bite. He is a indoor/outdoor cat. He doesnt like to put too much pressure on the arm and will limp. He is showing no other symptoms and acting healthy. Is this something that can heal on its own or should i take him to a vet since its been 3 weeks?

You need to take Ninja into a vet today. This looks pretty bad and he's in pain. He's showing you he's in pain by limping and not putting pressure on the leg. Please take him into a vet immediately.

It could be that Timone has broken a bone or could have severely strained or torn a ligament. This is something that should be seen by a vet, as he won't put pressure on his paw and the limp has gotten worse. That shows he is pain. The vet may want to do x-rays to see if a bone has been broken, and will probably prescribe pain medications. Do NOT give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to cat and are fatal if given. Because he is in pain, he does need pain medication which can only be prescribed by a vet. Please take him into a vet tomorrow for treatment.

My cat has a wound on his front leg, not sure if its healing or getting worse. The cat is limping
Poor kitty! Since this wound looks rather deep and he is limping, I would definitely recommend having him seen by a veterinarian - it looks like he will probably need an antibiotic and possibly an anti-inflammatory or other pain medication, in order to treat the injury and help it heal.

Ideally, he should be physically examined by your veterinarian. He may have been bitten by another cat which would explain his symptoms. A cat bite can be difficult to detect and can abscess and be quite painful. Antibiotics and pain medication may be indicated.

Hi i'd like to get some advice about my cat, He was recently in a fight, he's bled a bit but it has stopped, he also has a bad limp, and something hanging out of his eye. HIs head was also shaking while laying down like he was dizzy and couldn't see
Thank you for submitting your question regarding your cat. He needs to see a veterinarian today. The limping can be due to a bite wound on the leg. If it is a bite wound, I worry about an infection developing underneath the skin. The eye needs to be addressed as well. The tissue protruding can be a laceration of his third eyelid. He will need to have his eye assessed for damage to the surface of the eye as well. Depending on his exam findings, he will likely need antibiotics and possibly surgery depending on the state of his wounds. I hope this information helps!

My cat hasn't been eating and has been severely limping
As your cat hasn't been eating and is limping it is best to schedule a veterinary appointment ASAP. The limp could be caused by a number of things including injury to the leg, such as a break or sprain, wound or infection from a bite or scratch, or muscle or nerve damage. If the limb is hurt severely enough or if infection is present it may make your cat not want to eat. Until you can get to the vet, limit all activity to prevent further injury to the limb, and try to entice eating by warming up some wet food or adding some warmed boiled chicken to your cat's food. However it is necessary to schedule a vet appointment ASAP.

You are entirely correct that Scribbles should see a vet. Limping itself can be an indication of pain, as cats do not usually avoid putting weight on one of their legs for no reason, so please make an appointment to have Scribbles seen by a veterinarian. Causes of the limping could be trauma, a muscular or nerve injury, a fractured bone, a tumour/mass, or a foreign body embedded in the leg, or infection as you mentioned. In the meantime I recommend keeping him in a crate or in a room where he can't run/ jump on anything, and putting an e-collar (cone) on him to help prevent him from biting/licking at the area. Pain medication meant for people can be toxic to cats and should not be used without checking with a vet first. I also recommend having both cats neutered to help reduce the risk of testicular cancer, unwanted pregnancies, and certain undesirable behaviours such as humping, aggression, urine marking, and "roaming" to look for females.

It is impossible to know what is causing him to be lame without an examination. The best thing would be to have a vet take a look at him to do an orthopedic examination and take an xray, if needed, to determine the exact cause. He could have an infection, fracture, or strain/sprain. Once diagnsed, your vet can decide the best way to treat his problem. He may just need an antibiotic and/or an anti-inflammatory/pain medications. I hope Smokey feels better soon!

Hi there. A couple things could be going on with Sam. He could have a soft tissue injury, a fracture, or he could have an abscess in his leg or foot that has not come to the surface yet. If you’re able to take him to the vet on emergency today it would just help him feel more comfortable more quickly but if that is something that is difficult to do you should be OK to wait until tomorrow because he’s acting normally otherwise. You should take her to an out of hours vet or Pet ER today. Your vet;s office should have emergency information on their answering machine. In the UK all veterinarians have to provide an out of hours service, be it themselves or via referral to another veterinary clinic. This is obviously a painful condition which should be addressed today.

CAT limping on and off for a few days
Your cat has probably hurt himself either outside or inside the house while jumping. it could also be due to a fight with another cat outside that resulted in an infection. as it has been a few days already and without improvement, i strongly recommend that you take him to the vet in order to get the affected leg checked, he will probably need pain killers for a few days at the very least.
