Why does my kitten have tears and white discharge in her eye?

Pet's info: Cat | European Shorthair | Female | unspayed

My kitten nylah woke up with tears in her eye and she has white stuff inside the corner of her right eye. I don't know what this means. Unfortunately I cannot go to a vet because of the virus. If anyone knows what this means it would mean a great deal. Thank you.

I suspect that Nylah has an eye infection. You can take her into the vet for illnesses during this time, it's ok and necessary. Leaving this untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take her into a vet now.

Kitten's eyes tear up, good appetite, drinking, pooping, social and active and she doesn't fuss with her face.
She likely is carrying a virus such as herpesvirus or calicivirus, which are quite common in kitties. Giving her an antiviral supplement (Lysine powder or gel) can help with this. Other possible causes are excessive tear production or conjunctivitis (which is still usually viral in nature). If her eye start to redden, if you notice her squinting or any yellow/green discharge, or continuous discharge that doesn't cease even for a little while, then a vet visit is needed to treat for a possible injury to the eyes or tear gland problem. However it is likely she is just carrying a virus and in some case cats do well with antiviral, while other require a short course of topical antibiotic ointment to get the eyes to resolve. My kitten Nala was abandon and I took her home I'm taking care of her but I notice there is some type of gooey stuff around her eyes I clean it as much as I can. is there something I can do to get rid of it and can I buy it over the counter ?
Kittens can commonly be afflicted by upper respiratory viruses that can cause sneezing, nasal discharge, conjunctivitis, draining eyes and corneal ulcers. These viruses can pass from the mama cat to the kitten during birth. This is what I suspect is going on with your kitten. Oftentimes cats can overcome a viral flare up on their own but sometimes, especially in immunocompromised kittens, they need antiviral drugs, eye medications, and possibly antibiotics to help them get over the virus. If the illness lasts more than 3-5 days, or if Nala stops eating then I would take her in to the vet to be checked out. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. My cat has some infection on both sides of it's head
Please take a warm damp cloth and clean the discharge away. This looks likes the infection is in or near her eyes. Please take her in tomorrow to get treatment so she doesn’t get worse. My kitten is 18 days old and both eyes are shut in one eye it is like a white coating and in the next eye is is not open and a yellow line is there in the place of eye what should I do?
This is likely to be a due to a viral and bacterial infection of the eye, which would require immediate check up as antibiotics are immediately needed. These type of ocular infections can result in corneal damage and possibly perforations if not treated quite rapidly.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Nala. She appears to be squinting a bit in your picture. This can mean that her eyes are painful. If the other cats she is playing with are experiencing similar signs, I suspect there is an infectious cause. I would recommend that she sees her veterinarian. She may require an antibiotic eye ointment. In the meantime, do not let her paws at her eyes as this can irritate them further. I hope this information helps!

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well.
