Why is my cat acting weird, not eating, and lying on wet spots?

Good Day to you. My cat has been acting weird since yesterday. I noticed he has not been eating his meals and is not energetic as he normally is. Also I noticed he likes to stay on a wet spot to keep his furs wet. If you could help me with these it will really be a lot of help. Thank You!

This not eating and lethargy are both signs that Leo is sick. He may be laying in a wet spot because he's hot and is trying to cool down. A loss of appetite and lethargy can be signs of systemic illness, infection, or injury. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain what is causing his symptoms. I can say it's very serious when a cat won't eat, so you need to take him into a vet immediately. I hope this helps!

Oh my. These are very concerning symptoms I'm afraid. I would highly recommend taking Leo to your local vet right away. I am worried that Leo may have a toxin ingestion, foreign body obstruction, or even kidney disease is a possible cause here. Until you can get him seen you can try offering some canned tuna and white rice to see if you can entice him to eat a bit of food. I hope that your furry friend Leo feels better soon! Hello! I am sorry to hear that Leo is not himself. Although I hope his signs are nothing serious, what you are describing warrants further investigation. Cats are adept at hiding illness so if he is vomiting, not eating and unplayful, I am worried he is trying to tell us he doesn't feel well. A good exam to survey his temperature, heart/lungs, and internal organs would be a good start and I would recommend labwork as well to screen for infection, inflammation and liver/kidney/pancreatic problems. His current issue may be unrelated to his history of vomiting, but regardless of his current illness I am also concerned that he typically vomits once a day. This may be related to behavioral issues like gorging but I also see this in cats with irritable bowel syndrome and food allergies, among other issues. I hope it is nothing serious but I think you are right to be asking questions and I recommend you take him in for diagnostics! I hope this is helpful!

My cat was sick past couple of days .. since he was sick he used to stay in bathroom and he is fully wet but before he get this sickness he was afraid and unlikely to water .. why is this happening ? He is not eating anything either
Sometimes a cat will hide in an unusual location simply because they are not feeling well. He may feel that getting wet is worth it if he feels safer in the bathroom. Given that he has been sick for a few days and he is not eating, I would recommend that you have him seen by a veterinarian. Cats that don't eat for even more than a few days can become quite ill very quickly. In the meantime, I would try to keep him as dry as possible. Perhaps provide a box or bed in the bathroom to see if he would use it rather than the area that he is getting wet in

Lethargy and anorexia can be a common sign of many illnesses including systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. Its very concerning that he hasn't eaten for three days, as when a cat doesn't eat for over 72 hours, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Based on this, I am recommending you take him into a vet right away. Without treatment, he could develop a fatty liver, and it's serious he's had three days without eating. Please call a vet now to get him in to be seen asap. Best of luck.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Cuty. He sounds very sick based on your description. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian if at all possible. Cats can actually develop severe liver disease if they go too long without eating. He will be examined. If he has a source of pain, this can affect appetite. An internal problem such as kidney disease or pancreatitis can make a cat less likely to eat as well. He may require laboratory work to diagnose his problem. From there, treatment can be started. In the meantime, try to syringe him small amounts of water to keep him hydrated. I hope this information helps!

Why has my cat been laying down not wanting to get up and why did he stop eating but continue drinking? Is it lethargy?
Yes, it sounds like Sebastian is lethargic. His symptoms are non-specific, but could indicate infection, trauma leading to injury, or endocrine/autoimmune disease. I recommend that you have him seen by a veterinarian to help determine the cause of his symptoms. Your vet may recommend blood and urine testing or even imaging such as an x-ray to help determine what is going on with Sebastian.

Hello, I'm glad you're keeping an eye on Leo's eating and weight. It is never normal for a cat to eat notably less to the point of weight loss. I will often see outdoor cats who eat less cat food in the summer months because they are hunting to supplement their diet - but in those cases, the cats are keeping a steady weight. If Leo is losing weight and eating less, he should be seen by a vet. Your vet will likely want to check a fecal sample to look for intestinal parasites, and may recommend bloodwork and/or x-rays for more information. Hope this helps!

My cat is five. He is acting strange. He pooped outside of his litter box, he hasn't eaten and has been vocal and lethargic.

Loss of appetite and lethargy can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. Defecating outside of the litter box is usually a medical issue and can be linked to everything else going on. I recommend that you have Merlin evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. It sounds like Kitty is sick if she rarely eats. It's quite serious when a cat barely eats, as they can develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Unfortunately, anorexia and lethargy are very general signs of illness, and can be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. I would have her seen by a vet right away for a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis to diagnose what is causing her symptoms so she can be treated.
