My cat is breathing heavy, not eating, bad breath. Sick or stressed?

Pet's info: Cat | American Longhair | Male | neutered | 15 lbs

So my cat of 5 years has been in a very maintained schedule with my life of working crazy hours and traveling, so I don’t get to spend so much time home. But now I’m home 24/7 and I’ve noticed he’s overly affectionate, not eating much and I hear a him breathing heavily while snoring? Also his breathe is smelling a little worse & he’s getting eye gook more than normal. Is his behavior from stress from change?

Yes, it could be from stress but it could also be Leo is sick. The bad breath could be due to dental disease, and the excessive eye discharge could be due to an eye infection. I'd have him seen by a vet this weekend. I hope this helps!

If this is not the case, then he may be experiencing allergies or even have a diseased tooth. Poor Leo! It is likely he has serious periodontal disease if he lost teeth. Dental disease can affect appetite because it simply hurts when he eats. There could also be infection and inflammation compounding the problem. Have Leo rechecked by your vet (or a different vet) and ask him/her to do an oral exam. Leo may need a dental cleaning and could have more teeth extracted if necessary. This will require general anesthesia and dental xrays. Discuss treatment options and the procedure with the veterinarian.,

Thank you for using Boop by Petco! Your cat sounds very sick. You should take him to a veterinarian as soon as possible. Being out of breath could mean a problem with the heart, lungs, or even blood issues such as anemia or other problems. Unfortunately, there isn't anything I can recommend on the the internet. He needs to be assessed by a veterinarian in person.

It could be a combination of of an upper respiratory infection and a tooth disease, the gums look fine so it is less likely to be a gum disease. he needs to see a vet ASAP, there is nothing you can do at home for him i'm afraid.

Without examining your cat or at least seeing some photos it is very difficult for me to comment. The best I can tell you is that he needs to see a vet so he can be examined in person. He may have a seriously infected tooth or even a tumor in his mouth cavity. Both things can cause the sign you describe. He cannot be left in this condition without eating and losing weight. It sounds like he is in pain so he needs to see a vet right away. I would not wait to get him examined. This is an emergency in my opinion.

This not eating and lethargy are both signs that Leo is sick. He may be laying in a wet spot because he's hot and is trying to cool down. A loss of appetite and lethargy can be signs of systemic illness, infection, or injury. Without seeing him in person, I can't say for certain what is causing his symptoms. I can say it's very serious when a cat won't eat, so you need to take him into a vet immediately. I hope this helps!

My cat is about 6-8 months old. Lately he has had bad breath, and I've also noticed he has slightly pink/inflammed gums around the teeth. He also has had some sneezes and crusty nose. But only minorly. He eats and acts normal. Should I be concerned?
Yes, I would be somewhat concerned. It sounds like he has stomatitis which is just a fancy word for a mouth infection. In cats this is an autoimmune process which can be brought about by and underlying viral infection (namely FeLV and FIV). So, I suggest you get Fox to your vet for FeLV/FIV testing and an oral (mouth) exam. If he does have stomatitis you need to talk to your vet about your treatment options - some cats require full mouth extractions. Some cats need lifelong medication. Some cats only need routine dental cleanings every 6 months or so with diligent home care (brushing). http://www.vetstreet.com/care/feline-stomatitis Hope this helps. Best wishes!

What a gorgeous cat! I am sorry he is not feeling well. Licking his lips is a sign of nausea. Even though he may not be vomiting today he is showing signs that he is still not feeling well. If he is eating (even small amounts) and drinking water as well as interacting with you, urinating, and defecating than he may be able to wait until Wednesday. However, if Michaleto's breathing continues to be abnormal at all to you this may be a sign that he is in pain or has some sort of disease of his heart or lungs. Any abnormal breathing - whether fast or hard - should be seen as soon as possible by a veterinarian. I hope he is feeling better soon.

My cat keeps drooling and occasionally gagging like there is something stuck in his throat. Wont eat/drink and hasn't move from under the bed since last night.
Oh my. These are very concerning symptoms I'm afraid. I would highly recommend taking Leo to your local vet right away. I am worried that Leo may have a toxin ingestion, foreign body obstruction, or even kidney disease is a possible cause here. Until you can get him seen you can try offering some canned tuna and white rice to see if you can entice him to eat a bit of food. I hope that your furry friend Leo feels better soon! Hi my 3 month old kitten is breathing very heavy and has mucus in his nose and mouth. He is very sluggish and not as playful as usual. He won't even eat his favorite treat. What does it mean?
I would worry that Charlie has an upper respiratory infection. Viral disease is most common, and a secondary bacterial infection could occur as well. I’d recommend having Charlie examined by your veterinarian. If you think he is having enough difficulty breathing that he is in distress you should see an emergency veterinarian.
