Cat batting face, crying, and sticking out tongue. Is it dental pain?

My cat looks in pain, and keeps batting at her face and crying. I don’t know what to do. We first thoughts she had a hairball, but it’s definitely not. She keeps sticking out her toung.

I'm wondering if Duggie has a dental problem causing this behavior. Unfortunately there are no OTC pain relievers you can give her. Many human ones are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. I'm concerned about her level of pain, and think it's best she sees a vet now. Please take her into a vet immediately. I hope this helps!

Try gently rinsing out Mittens's mouth with cool water. If she is pawing at her face still, that tells me she is in a lot of pain and needs to see a vet now. Do NOT give her any human pain medications, many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Should she have stopped pawing at her face, you can wait until tomorrow to see the vet. Best of luck.

No, Ibuprofen and Tylenol can be toxic to cats. If she seems to be in a lot of pain and your vet can’t see her then you will need to take her to an emergency clinic for treatment. Sorry that she is in pain.

My cat likes to be petted. He likes to be petted around his mouth, and sometimes i accidentally touch his teeth. he makes a loud meow and runs off. I think he is in pain.
Jinks may have dental disease causing him to be in pain when you touch his mouth. It would be a good idea to have Jinx examined by a veterinarian to determine if he has dental disease requiring a dental cleaning and possible tooth extractions. He may also benefit from pain medication until the dental procedure can be done. Please remember there are no safe over the counter pain medications for cats so you will need to have these prescribed by a veterinarian. Thanks for using Boop by Petco!

My cat is drooling a lot and has sores around her mouth. Won't drink or eat
Cats can develop something called gingivostomatitis as well as feline oral resoptive lesions. These are both very painful and require antibiotics and sometimes steroids as well as dental procedures to correct. Also if there's any possibility she chewed something like electric cord or plant that can calls the signs as well. I recommend Dusk be checked out by a veterinarian as soon as possible. This is to prevent her from becoming dehydrated and malnourished from not eating. Do not give her any human medications as they are very toxic to cats and I'll make the situation worse.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Snaggles! Teeth grinding, hissing and crying while eating indicates oral pain. Before you start any medications Snaggles needs to have an exam by a Vet. He could have severe stomatitis or another tooth that needs to be extracted. Antibiotics and pain medications are temporary band-aids for both conditions. Without examining Snaggles, it is against the law for us to prescribe medications. We need a valid Veterinary Client Patient Relationship that requires us to be able to physically touch your pet. Since Snaggles was just seen by your Vet in June I would try calling them and asking if those medications are appropriate for him. My recommendations, for Snaggles sake, is to take him in for an exam so you know what you are dealing with. I hope this helps and I wish Snaggles a speedy recovery!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is indeed likely due to mouth discomfort. I highly recommend that you have her evaluated when your veterinarian has decided to proceed with further investigation. If mouth pain due to a dental condition is diagnosed, they can then proceed with therapy based on what they find wrong. I hope they can help her. Mouth pain can be quite distressing. Please do not give Teggy any human pain medications. Many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Boop by Petco to give the dose information for any drug, including OTC drugs, without seeing the animal in person first. That's because doing so requires a veterinary client patient relationship which cannot be achieved via an internet forum. In addition, the experts cannot say for certain if a specific drug is safe for your cat. He absolutely has to see a vet for this problem, and you need to make time for it as soon as possible. It's extremely serious that he won't eat, as when a cat doesn't eat for 72 hours, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. Please take him into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

My cat comes from my colony of feral cats at a junk yard. She was the runt and dragged out to die as kitten. I brought her home 10 years ago. 4 of the feral cats have died because they had something wrong with their mouths. Now my girl is lowering
I'm sorry to hear that Lucy has been feeling so poorly. Teeth chattering is commonly associated with oral pain in pets. Without examining her and performing dental x-rays, I can't conclude the precise cause of her pain. At this point, the best course of action is to take Lucy to her vet for an exam. She will likely also require a sedated oral examination with dental x-rays to get to the bottom of this situation so that proper treatment can be started. I hope that she feels better soon!

This sounds very much like she may have a tooth problem or a mouth ulcer or an injury. Since she apparently is in pain when you try to touch her around the mouth, I suggest you take her to your veterinarian for a dental exam. She may need a tooth removed or be treated for an ulcer or have tartar removed.

Poor Jada Leigh! it sounds like she has a few things going on at the moment. The foul smelling saliva, only eating soft food, and acting like it hurts to swallow are indications of a dental problem. She could have a loose or broken tooth, could have severe gingivitis, or could have a tooth root abscess. As for the yellow mucus in her eyes, that can be a sign of an eye infection. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take her into a vet right for both her dental problems and her eye problems. She needs veterinary care now because the dental problems will be very painful to her (and you cannot give her pain meds at home as human ones are toxic to cats and are fatal if given), and eye problems need to be treated promptly.
