Why did my cat stop eating wet food after I changed her dry food?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 0 lbs

My cat stopped eating meats, she has always loved liver and sardines and now she just leak the moist off of it and just eats dry food. Her energy level is the same in the mornings and she looks fine. She stopped eating meat after I changed to another brand of dry food and she threw that one up plus I noticed her belly got bloated. I already started back her old dry food. Thank you .

Poor Tomasina. It's actually very serious when a cat won't eat, as if they go long enough without eating (about 72 hours), they will develop a fatty liver. A fatty liver is fatal without treatment, so you want to avoid that. I'd have her checked out by a vet today. While the change in diet can cause stomach upset in the form of vomiting and loss of appetite, it could also be she is sick.
