Why is my puppy straining to poop? Should I take him to the vet?

Hi there, I have an 8 week old Great Dane puppy. Since we got him, at 7 weeks, he has been straining while pooping. He will pass a good amount of stool, sometimes soft, sometimes liquid... and then strains to go again but only a small amount of stool comes out. Should I go see my vet?

He may have blocked up anal glands. Yes, if you can take him to your vets for a full check up then please, do it. You can ask your vet to check his anal glands when you take your puppy for his vaccinations.
