My 3-week-old kitten has parasites and bloody diarrhea. Is dewormer working?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed

Yesterday I went to the vet and found out that my kitten has parasites, but before visiting the vet her poop was runny bloody with no color but after, her poop was light brown a little slimy and she was weak I had to force wet food on her. But today her poop went back to bloody with no color. Good news that she's quite active. The question is, is the deworming medicine working? How long it take to eliminate the parasites? Since she has diarrhea, is it okay to feed her kmr liquid milk? 3 weeks ol

It can take some time for the dewormer to work and the intestines to heal. If Melly is only 3 weeks old, she needs to be on kitten milk replacer exclusively. You can start to introduce wet food or dry food mixed with milk replacer next week.
