My unspayed cat has e-collar and brown vulva discharge. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | unspayed | 7.1 lbs

My cat has a ruptured anal sac 3 days ago, the wound is healing well and is no longer draining. She's wearing an e-collar to avoid licking the wound. But I noticed lately that she has brownish discharge around the vulva and I don't know if its from the anal sac or if I should bring her back to the vet. My cat isn't spayed.

It is probably brownish in color around the vulva due to the fact that she cannot clean the area. I suggest you just take some baby wipes (gentle formula) and wipe that area twice a day to keep it clean until the E-collar can come off. Please consider getting her spayed as soon as you can to avoid any future problems.
