My dog ate chicken wing bones 4 hours ago, no symptoms. Concerned?

Hi. My dog got a hold of the bones of my chicken wings I had for dinner. It has been about 4 hours and She has been acting fine and has not thrown up... should I be concerned?

For the most part I recommend monitoring after chicken bone ingestion - while sometimes they can become lodged in the esophagus or the intestines, and they can also cause stomach upset, the majority of the time they don't cause any symptoms at all. Most dogs chew them into small pieces before ingesting them. If Neveah vomits, has a decrease in appetite, or develops diarrhea contact your vet right away.

    Typically chicken wings will dissolve in the stomach. I would recommend feeding a few pieces of bread. The reason for this is to bind up any pieces of the bone that is left in the stomach. Then I would monitor for vomiting, diarrhea or lethargy. If you notice any of these symptoms I would recommend bringing them to a vet. It isn't very common for a cooked chicken wing caused a problem. Monitor for vomiting, constipation, blood in the stools and lack of appetite, if any of them are showing these symptoms- take them to the vet ASAP in order to be checked and treated for a possible obstruction or foreign body ingestion.

My dog ate half of a Buffalo chicken wing including the bone Will he be OK?
I'm not sure how big Joey is, but in my experience it would be uncommon for a single chicken wing (or half of one) to cause any problems unless he's a very tiny dog. I would monitor him closely for the next couple of days for any signs of a problem - like repeated episodes of vomiting, acting lethargic, or not wanting to eat. These can be signs of an obstruction or damage to the intestines, so he should see a vet right away if you notice any problems. But as long as he's eating and drinking and acting normal, you shouldn't need to worry :)

One of my two adult pit bull mixes ate an entire chicken wing (meat and bone) and a beef teriyaki with the stick. I didn’t see it happen so I’m not positive which did it but I’m scared to death of what might happen!

There is a concern that the bones can cause an obstruction, or can damage the lining of the stomach or intestines, but it's actually not that common; so I wouldn't worry too much right now. I know of dogs ate chicken bones regularly throughout their life and never had any complications. The vomiting is a bit concerning, but may just be due to the fact that her stomach isn't used to having that much chicken, or the spices on the chicken. Blockages and punctures tend to cause profuse vomiting and will cause the dog to act very depressed/painful. If you notice this, then I recommend taking him to the vet as soon as possible, because these are emergencies. Normal transit time is three days from when the food was eaten. If five days pass without issue, then you can be fairly sure that he will not have any complications due to the chicken wings. However, there's still a small possibility that a bone could be stuck somewhere and cause problems a couple of weeks later. I hope that he

Chewy might have ate a chicken wing with honey bbq sauce with it will this harm him
Chicken wings with bones can cause gastritis or irritation of the stomach, and occasionally the bones can become lodged in the esophagus, stomach or intestines and cause an obstruction. Often a wing will be digested and the dog will have no problems whatsoever. As long as Chewy is otherwise healthy with no history of medical problems I think you can monitor him for vomiting, diarrhea or a decrease in appetite over the next few days.

My cat ate a chicken bone yesterday. Im worried since many people mention that it is bad. Something to keep in mind is that for the longets time my family has been feeding our dogs and cats left overs from cookouts etc including chicken with the bone
I'd monitor your cat very closely for vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence, abdominal pain, or lethargy. If any of these signs occur, your cat should see a veterinarian ASAP. Bones can be damaging to the stomach or intestines if they do not break down well.

My dog ate chicken wings. What should I do?
This is a fairly common problem, unfortunately - dogs are good at getting into things that they shouldn't eat! I would expect that Charlie may have some mild GI upset for the next day or two (mild vomiting or diarrhea) - as long as he's active and eating and drinking normally, I wouldn't necessarily worry. There is a small chance that the bones could cause a blockage or an intestinal perforation - this is not common in my experience, but something to watch out for. Some dogs may also get serious illnesses like pancreatitis as a result of eating greasy "people food" like chicken wings. I would monitor Charlie closely for the next 24-48 hours - if he stops eating, has repeated episodes of vomiting, or diarrhea with blood in it then I would recommend having him seen by a vet right away in case of a serious problem.

My dog got a hold of and swallowed a cooked chicken carcass. Is he gonna be ok? What should I watch for?
The bones typically pass but depending on how well they were chewed and broken. The larger pieces may cause an obstruction while the smaller ones can cause inflammation and bloody diarrhea. You should watch for vomiting and diarrhea, with blood. if that is noted, then I would have your vet check him to make sure things are passing normally and he doesn't require hospitalization or assists.

My dog was nibbling on a chicken bone for about a min. Will he be alright?
If your dog didn't swallow the chicken bone this is unlikely to cause him any problems. I would just monitor him for GI upset including vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, or lethargy. If these develop seek veterinary care but they are unlikely.
