Why is my senior dog squinting one eye and has cloudy vision?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 4 lbs

My dog has been squinting one of her eyes, or closing it completely while the other is wide open. She is a 10 year old chihuahua. She has always had trouble seeing and in the circle of her eyes it is always been cloudy.

It could be an abrasion or ulcer on the eye, something stuck under the eyelid, conjunctivitis, etc. Keep the room dim to help prevent pain, and use a washcloth to gently rub the lids to see if anything comes out of the eye. Otherwise, Flo should be checked out by a vet for diagnosis and appropriate medications.
