Hi I have just noticed a red rash with sores on my dogs groin. He has been licking at it quite often but I assumed he was cleaning himself. Please could you provide some advice? Many thanks in advance!

Those spots on Bear could be several things including fleas, allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection, ringworm (which humans can get) or endocrine disease. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesions once a day (not his whole body, just the lesions). Also protect the area from trauma by having your pup wear an elizabethan collar at all times. If the lesions do not start improving within a week or if they are getting worse, have him examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Oh dear, poor Max! His skin lesions look most suspicious for a skin infection (often a result of underlying allergies), but could also be a result of ringworm or mange. Make sure that he is receiving a high quality flea and tick preventative regularly (such as Nexgard, Bravecto, or K9 Advantix II) because flea allergies can lead to itching and the onset of a skin infection. You can try bathing Max in a medicated shampoo (here is one example: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=27981 ) every few days for the next week or two. However, if his skin lesions persist or worsen, he will need to go to the vet because further testing and/or antibiotics may be needed. I hope that all goes well!
