My pet threw up yellow bubbly vomit. Is it serious? What to do?

My pet has thrown up yellow bubbly vomit a couple times. What should I do?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Whiskehy. Poor boy. It could be he has a stomach illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or pancreatitis among other causes of vomiting. I can give you a home remedy for him to see if that helps. Withhold food until the morning, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, he refuses to eat the bland diet, he vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, he will need to see a vet right away. I would be concerned about Buddy as well. It could be he has a GI illness. I will give you a home remedy to see if that helps. My dog has thrown up five times within the last 30-45 minutes. It was all digested food and yellow bile. What should I do?
If your pet has vomited this much in the past 45 minutes I would be very suspicious of a foreign body or a very intense dietary indiscretion (eating something he shouldn't have). I would recommend you start supportive care (like Famotiidne 05-1.0mg/kg every 12 hrs and a bland diet like Purina EN Gastrointestinal canned food OR boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese. However there is a big possibility that this could have been a toxicity and if any more symptoms start to arise (such as ataxia (staggering) or shaking, crying out) then I highly recommend you seek a personal veterinarian for a physical examination and further diagnostics. - Dr. H

My 3 mos old chow chow vomit early this morning.. It looks like yellowish liquid with bubbles. How is that? Is he is sick or kinda eat something in which didnt accept it by his body?
This is bilious vomiting. It it frequently due to a "sour stomach" when a dog does not eat for extended periods of time. Try offering Cooper a small meal just before bedtime. If this does not help or if he has other symptoms (lethargy, decreased appetite, diarrhea, etc.), then have him examined by your veterinarian to diagnose illness or infection.

My dog Mugsy has gotten sick every few months and when he does its just bile was wondering if there was a possible reason
Hi there! Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Vomiting is sometimes seen with conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis and chronic kidney disease, among many other conditions. Given Mugsy's young age and the fact that he is otherwise doing fine and this is sporadic, dietary indiscretion appears more likely. It may be something as easy as just changing his diet to something that he can tolerate better. However, an examination by a veterinarian as well as minimal diagnostic data would be needed to rule out more concerning things. You can start by changing his diet to a sensitive stomach type diet. If no improvement, have him examined by a veterinarian to start therapy if needed based on findings. Good luck!

Kobe throws up sometimes and it’s yellowish and goopy. Why does he do that?
Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. I would recommend changing the diet and considering adding a probiotic to the diet such as Purina Fortiflora. In a recent study, it was shown that almost 55% of GI cases (vomiting / diarrhea ) were related to the diet or the intestinal bacterial content being low. I would consider switching to a different diet and wait at least 4 weeks to see a difference. The probiotic can be found online or at your local pet store. If there is no improvement on the new diet, you may need to do a food trial on a hydrolyzed protein diet to rule out a dietary allergy. If the diet has been ruled out as the cause, I would recommend running Kobe's bloodwork and considering an abdominal ultrasound or x-rays. I hope this helps!
