My dog is suffering from brain inflamation what can be the possible treatment , he already is on medications
Hi there and thank you for using Pet Coach to address your concern. Encephalitis, or inflammation of the brain, is typically thought to be due to an autoimmune disease. In the normal dog, the immune system acts to protect the body from an infection. The body relies on the immune system to recognize itself and recognize infections. In autoimmune disease, the immune system loses the ability to differentiate between self and non-self and mounts an inflammatory attack against itself. Treatment typically involves medications that help decrease inflammation and suppress the overactive immune system. Prednisone is typically used, however, dogs that have been treated with prednisone typically have shorter survivals. Newer drugs have been studied in treating encephalitis and may increase survival times. These medications include Cyclosporine, Azathioprine, Leflunomide and Procarbazine. I hope this helps and I sure hope Pepsi gets better soon! Please let me know if you have any other questions o
