My dog's growing chest lump fell off and is bleeding. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund (Miniature Wire Haired) | Male | 10 years and 3 months old

My dog had a small lump on his chest area which was barely noticeable but like 2 months ago it started to grow rapidly. It was about 2 cm long, looked like half of an oval, blackish in colour and was soft. Now it has come off and still some red part is hanging there. I cleaned it with an antiseptic and tried to tape it to stop the bleeding. I have attached a photo of it. Cant see a vet due to this corona virus lockdown. What can i do on my own for now?

Not much you can do, this is likely a tumor that needs surgical removal, it will likely just get worse and worse without treatment. you can clean it, apply an antiseptic cream on it 2-3 times a day in the meantime.
